VIEWS of a traditional Wiltshire farm at work over her back garden fence have proved to be inspirational for the latest photographer to enter VisitWiltshire’s photographic competition.

Wroughton resident Brenda Dore has captured a number of images of the local landscape over the past couple of months in the hope of being crowned the winner of this year’s competition which has seen scores of snappers up and down the county scouring the lands for the finest views.

Brenda, whose husband Peter owns and runs Jensons of Gorse Hill, said she had always had a love of photography, but found herself turning professional after being asked to take on the important role of photographer at a friend’s wedding in 2000. Since then she has provided the lasting memories for happy couples at more than 50 big days.

She revealed that many of her submissions that she has put forward during July and August had come about after weekend walks around the area with friends and family, during which she can always be found with her camera.

One such visit to Avebury yielded two of her entries. “We saw the Red Lion pub and I just thought it looked a very attractive pub and was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, she said. “We did go in for a drink afterwards before heading home too.”

Lydiard Park has also featured among some of the photographs she has submitted as her brother, John Ball works in the walled garden.

But closer to home the view from her rear garden fence has also proved inspirational, with views across the farmland also featuring among her work.

The competition is open to both professional and aspiring photographers who can submit up to five photographs for the judges to consider each month until the competition closes at the end of September.

To be in with a chance of winning, the photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire's four ‘Timeless’ themes. These are:

• Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

• Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

• Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals & events, arts & entertainment

• Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna

There will be one first prize of a £300 voucher for the best photograph overall, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher each.
