INTREPID folk with a burning ambition will hot-foot it to the Sun Inn at Coate on Saturday when a firewalk is being staged by a new Swindon charity.

It’s the first event organised by mum Michelle Basson who plans to raise money for the Brighter Futures appeal as well as Anything is Possible, the new charity she has set up with her mother and sister to children who suffer bullying or domestic abuse.

Walkers registered so far are raising money for a variety of charities including Prospect Hospice and SNDogs.

“It’s all coming together,” said Michelle. “We’re looking to make it a really great night.”

The fun starts at 2pm with live music, food and a raffle with prizes including a smart TV and an iPad.

Workshops for those daring to take part in the challenge start at 5pm and the firewalk begins at 7pm.

The firewalk will be followed by live music from Pop of Ages at 8.30pm, an amazing raffle and a hog roast.

Fancy dress is welcomed - although not clowns - with prizes for the best costumes.

Admission is free and anyone wanting a place on the firewalk can visit anythingispossible.org.uk for information. Registration is £50, which will go towards the new charity.

Michelle was inspired to set up Anything is Possible by her son Ben, 14, who copes with Asperger’s and has suffered bullying and isolation in the past.

The charity, which is based at the Nexus Business Centre, aims to provide funding so children in a similar situation can go on day trips and enjoy activities.
