POLICE have issued an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted theft of a trailer from a home in Old Town.

Wiltshire Police issued the CCTV still in the hope of prompting witnesses to come forward and identify the individual who climbed over a garden wall and began using a cutter to break the lock on the trailer before being chased off by the owner, who was alerted to the incident.

The attempted theft occurred Just before 1pm on Friday, January 6, at the home on Mill Lane.

CCTV cameras at the house captured footage of the man climbing over the garden wall and gate.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “It’s believed the suspect was then passed a gas cutting torch and bottle over the wall by someone else; he then carried it to the metal trailer, which was parked in the grounds, and started to use the cutter on the lock of the towing hitch on the trailer.

“The owner spotted him and ran out of the house, shouted at him and the suspect ran off.
