A HOEDOWN is heading to Trowbridge next month with a country music gig to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s new airbase.

Scott Welsby will be bringing his popular Garth Brooks experience to the Civic Centre on June 30, performing hits by the country music icon including Thunder Rolls, 2 Pina Coladas, The Dance, Callin’ Baton Rouge, Mom, Friends In Low Places and more.

The event, which will also include a charity auction with a range of goodies on offer to tempt all country music fans, has been organised by Johnny Cash superfan Dean Czerwionka.

The 37-year-old, from Devizes, said: “Garth Brooks turned country music on its head and has released so many fantastic songs over the years.

“Scott is the only authentic Garth Brooks tribute act around and does a very good job of replicating him.

“I would recommend people of all musical preferences come along to this gig. If you’re not a country music fan, you will be afterwards.”

Garth Brooks is one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, having sold more than 160 million records.

Mr Welsby, who will come down from Manchester to play the gig, said: “It’ll be my first time playing in Trowbridge and I can’t wait.

“Since I started this tribute act three years ago I’ve found that every gig has been amazing as fans of Garth are brilliant, they know every song and every note.

“It’s for a great cause and promises to be a really great night.”

The event is being sponsored by C S Electrical of Chirton, which has paid for Mr Welsby’s performance.

Cas Loudon, donor relationship co-ordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We’re so grateful to Dean for raising funds for our Airbase Appeal at the concert he has organised.

“The funds raised will help to complete the building and equipping of our new airbase at Semington.

“Work began on the airbase last month which is very exciting and it’s more important than ever to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the project.”
