A COMMUNITY group in Trowbridge that meets to share experiences from different cultures across the globe has relaunched in order to welcome new international residents in the town.

Based in the Drawing Projects UK building at Bridge House, the International Café meet on Tuesday evenings at 7pm and provides a space to meet new people from all walks of life.

Run by a team from Maranatha Community Church, the group are now looking to people new to the country or those who are international residents that have lived in the area for a while.

Chloe Chettleburgh started the café last year.

She said: “It began with leap of faith and developed into something that was beyond my expectations.

“I decided to spend a year working for a church after studying fashion at university and my aim was to use my faith in a practical way, so that it would impact peoples lives and the community in a micro setting.”

Since then the café event has welcomed people from countries all over the world including France, Czech Republic, Malawi, Portugal, Chile and Syria.

Spanish national María Mayor Arranz, who regularly attends the café with her friend Gus Martínez, said: "The International Café is a fantastic way to meet people from different countries. We’ve made really good friends and learnt a lot about English culture and its custom.”

The event is advertised on Facebook and has a busy schedule of events and activities lined up for the next few months from a local history night to one celebrating all things Spanish.
