SWINDON Lions have have donated £2,000 to the Prospect Hospice from the proceeds of their ever popular firework display from last November.

The group presented a member of the hospice’s fundraising team with the gift at one of their recent fortnightly meetings, after The Hospice was chosen by the Lions as one of the charities they wanted to benefit from the funds raised at the firework display.

Peter Kennewell, from Swindon Lions, said: “Many local Lions are keen supporters of Prospect Hospice because they will have had close family and friends who have been supported through their services. We are glad that they have been able to benefit once again from our support, and that of the hundreds of people who attended last year’s firework display.”

Genevieve Arney, events and community manager at Prospect Hospice, said: “We hugely appreciate this support from the Swindon Lions and wish them well in their fundraising efforts in the coming weeks in readiness for this year’s display at the Polo Ground. Their support means we are able to reach those in our local community at a time when they need us most.”

Members of Swindon Lions will be manning a stall in the Brunel Centre on Saturday, when they will be happy to talk about the organisation and explain what is involved in being a Lion.
