A MAN who swore at bouncers and party-goers in a drunken rage outside a popular Swindon club has been spared jail.

Adrian Parker, 45, yelled obscenities at the entrance to the Lava Lounge, in Fleet Street, in the early hours of September 3.

He went out clubbing after having an argument with his partner, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard.

The forklift driver previously crashed his truck at work because he was finding it hard to concentrate due to troubles at home.

Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, said Parker was stumbling around outside the popular night spot being rude to staff and disrespectful to police officers at 1.30am.

“He continued to shout and swear in the street,” he said. “He was told to leave the area but he became confrontational.”

Parker then tried to get into another bar but was refused entry, then arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Gordon Hotson, defending, said Parker and his partner had had an argument that night and he had stormed out of the house before drinking on an empty stomach.

“Things have gone horribly wrong for him recently,” said Mr Hotson.

The court heard Parker had lost his job as a forklift driver and was due to be evicted from his home as a result.

Parker, of County Road, Swindon, admitted disorderly behaviour and failing to surrender to the custody the court.

He was fined in June for being drunk and disorderly and last year he was given a four-week prison sentence suspended for two years after failing to provide a specimen of breath.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge and must complete a ten-day rehabilitation activity requirement, as well as pay £60 in costs.

He was warned he would face custody if he re-offended.

Magistrate Richard Mattick told him: “If you reoffend again it is almost certain you will go into custody.”

He added: “You have got to keep yourself out of trouble.”
