SWINDON made an emphatic start to their GoCrea8 League Conference North campaign with a five-star performance at Team Bath Buccs C.

The visitors were 2-0 up within 10 minutes, with goals from Luke Cejer and Henry Cheney giving them a commanding advantage.

Swindon continued to dominate the play and a smart save at 2-0 from keeper Alan Gough from Buccs only short corner of the match kept the visitors in control of the match.

Swindon were missing striker Tom Wickens and midfielder Chris Parsons, but never looked in any trouble and the the second half saw more visitors’ possession and pressure.

That ultimately told with two goals for Thomas Lentschner, who then thought he had completed his hat-trick, only to be denied by skipper Tom Goldsmith, who got the last touch from a well-worked short corner on the goal line.

Man of the match was teenager Nat O’Dwyer, who has joined the squad this season and justified his selection.

Swindon face Devizes at Isambard School on Saturday (11am).

Elsewhere, Swindon Ladies slipped to their first defeat of the west Clubs League Premier Division 2A campaign as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Team Bath Buccaneers 2.

The early-season leaders’ momentum was halted as Bath went into an early lead.

A wild swing and a miss by the visitors left Swindon’s Natalie Moore injured before sloppy defending saw the away side score their second.

Swindon came out fighting in the second half and looked much the better team.

With only seven minutes to go Shona O’Dwyer picked up a ball from the midfield and ran through the middle into the D.

O’Dwyer’s shot was saved by the keeper but Chloe Lewis was ready for the rebound and fired the ball home.

Swindon were then awarded a late short corner but were unable to score the leveller.
