KILLER cabbie Christopher Halliwell could have struck in Yorkshire, the mother of one of his victims believes.

Karen Edwards, mum of Becky Godden-Edwards, believes that Halliwell is responsible for the death of Claudia Lawrence.

Chef Claudia was 35 when she went missing in York eight years ago.

Karen, 56, from Shaw, said that a witness had seen Halliwell speaking to Claudia through a taxi window in York.

“Claudia was asking if he had change so she could ring her dad from a call box,” Karen told the Daily Mirror.

She added: “I feel Christopher Halliwell is a serial killer. He was a beast on the prowl.

"I feel that he is responsible for a lot of missing women and possibly men. This is not just Claudia this is connected to.”

In September last year Halliwell was sentenced to a whole life term for murdering of Becky. With no minimum term set it means he will die in prison.

Former taxi driver Halliwell was already serving 25 years for the murder of Sian O'Callaghan in 2011.

Claudia’s mum Joan Lawrence met Karen in Swindon this week to speak about their daughters.

Joan, 72, told the Mirror: “We are both in the same boat. We know exactly how each other is feeling.

"I’ve got friends who tell me they can’t imagine what I’m going through, but Karen can.”

Karen added: “Joan and I are exclusive members of a club that no-one wants to join.”

Wiltshire Police denied suggestions that Halliwell was linked to the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence.

A spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police has been in ongoing contact with North Yorkshire Police concerning the claims made by Mr Fulcher and at this time it is agreed by both police forces that there is nothing to indicate a link between the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence and the offending of Christopher Halliwell.

"We would welcome any new information from the public or if indeed Halliwell himself would be prepared to speak to us about any other criminality then of course we would arrange to do so.”
