AN INDIAN buffet restaurant expects to open its doors to Regent Circus diners before Christmas.

Tiffins will boast space for 350 diners, with attractions including a full-size Indian tuk-tuk scooter, fountains and rickshaws.

The restaurant will be the third to open in the Tiffins chain, which began in South Wales.

Owner Raj Baksh said: “It’s going to look amazing. We’ve got some fantastic fountains coming all the way from China.”

Unusually for an Indian restaurant, Tiffins offers buffet-style dining – giving people the chance to eat as much food as they like.

But unlike other buffet restaurants, they also offer an a la carte menu.

At the firm’s Newport restaurant, evening prices for Tiffins’ all you can eat buffet range from £12.95 between Monday and Thursday to £14.95 from Friday to Sunday.

The Adver reported in August that the new restaurant would be moving into the largest of the two empty units at Regent Circus.

However, it is understood that difficulties in arranging power supply for the new restaurant was behind delays in its opening.

The unit was originally marketed as a branch of Jimmy’s World Bar and Grill. But the firm did not move in.

An opening date for the new Regent Circus restaurant has not been fixed. However, it is expected that it will be mid-December.
