Festive flurry of feathers in burlesque night

DIG out the sequins and wrap up in your best boa, as the Flaming Feathers bring their wonderful world of burlesque to a Christmas Cabaret at the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday 9 December.

The evening of glamour and festive fun includes a sumptuous meal and a programme of entertainment by a line-up of artistes, including compere and singer Stage Door Johnny, the Hula Hooper Kat Collett, and vintage showgirls The Flaming Feathers.

This night of pleasure begins at 8pm, and features a three-course meal offering such delights as pulled ham hock, turkey roulade, and salted caramel and chocolate torte with vanilla mascarpone and orange coulis (with vegetarian options available).

Recital by Clare McCladin on strong women

TALES of heroines are explored in music during the next instalment of the Swindon Recital Series at the Swindon Arts Centre on Saturday.

Mezzo soprano Clare McCaldin and pianist Paul Turner will perform an eclectic programme of music called The ‘Complete’ Heroine, exploring the virtues and stories of some very contrasting women - such as Ophelia, Mignon, the Blessed Virgin and Lady Macbeth.

Stepping out for Christmas

TALENTED dancers from Hot Steppers take to the stage at Swindon Arts Centre on Sunday, bringing a mix of styles to this festive event.

Beginning at 4.30pm, the show by this fun and energetic company will include dance styles from jazz, rock, contemporary, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, street and some added Christmas cheer.

The event features songs old and new for all the family, giving each of the performers a chance to shine.
