PURTON performers are getting ready to put on a show.

Members of the Purton Amateur Dramatic Society will appear in The Wind in the Willows at the Purton Village Hall from Thursday February 8 to Saturday February 10.

The society's chairman Sue Richardson is on directing duties for the performance, which features dancers from the Purton School of Dance, and singalong songs like 'You've Got a Friend in Me' from Toy Story.

Sue was looking forward to opening night.

She said: "The Wind in the Willows has been a favourite of mine since I was a child, and when I speak to other people, they often say it was one of their favourites too.

"I've been wanting to do this for years, it's such a beautiful story, I'm so excited.

"It's all about friends helping each other and looking after each other, so I added in the song from Toy Story which a lot of the children will know, and there are quite a lot of other songs in this.

"Rehearsals are going well, I'm very pleased with it.

"We have members from age 13 to 72, quite a few of them are rather experienced actors but for a couple of them, it's their first big role in a show.

"The society has been performing in this hall for 50 years and I've been chairman for 10.

"We are always looking for new people to join as actors or scenery builders or to work backstage - there's as much going on back there as there is on the main stage."

The show starts at 7.30pm each night, with an extra matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £6 for concessions, and £4 for children.

Tickets can be bought from Purton Library and Flawless Flooring, or by calling 01793 722581.
