TWO Oxfordshire organisations have been given a cash boost thanks to grant funding from Healthwatch Oxfordshire.

Be Free Young Carers, which supports carers aged eight to 24 in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, and Oxford Community Aqua Wellbeing, which runs aqua rehabilitation sessions in community swimming pools in the city, will receive funding through Healthwatch's 2018 Project Fund grants.

The money will be used by Be Free Young Carers to carry out interview and case study research to gain a view of the current provision, and gaps in service in Oxford for young carers and their families.

While Oxford Community Aqua Wellbeing will use the funding to carry out analysis of its service in the city.

John Tabor, of Be Free Young Carers, said: “This Healthwatch funding will provide vital resources to assess the needs of young carers in Oxfordshire and will support our plans to extend our services countywide.”

The Healthwatch Oxfordshire Project Fund makes grants of up to £5,000 to voluntary and self-help groups to enable them to carry out small research projects.
