POLICE have released an e-fit image of a man they would like to speak to after a young girl was approached in Swindon.

The incident occurred at around 7.40am on Tuesday, February 20, when the 14-year-old girl was walking along Salzgitter Drive.

A man in a white van pulled up along side her and started shouting at her to get in to his vehicle.

As the girl continued to walk towards a nearby bus stop, where her friends were standing, the man drove off.

PC Emma Keatings said: "This would have been a busy road at this time of the day - so someone should have seen or heard anything suspicious.

"Perhaps you saw a van acting strangely or driving slowly?

"Also, if you recognise this man please contact me.

“We would like to urge parents and guardians to talk to their children and stress the importance of not talking to strangers. If you are approached by anyone suspicious while out and about, please do not engage with them and call police immediately – call 999 at the time, or 101 after the incident.

"If possible, try and get a description of the driver or the vehicle.”

Anyone who can help police with their enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555111.
