COURT: A woman who stole £200-worth of razor blades from Wilkinson’s was ordered by magistrates to pay compensation to the store. Carmela Carchedi, 41, of no fixed address, was given an 18-month conditional discharge by Swindon magistrates after she pleaded guilty.

COURT: Jordan Dawkins was instructed to do 80 hours of unpaid work and was banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months after he pleaded guilty to being more than twice the drink drive limit.

Dawkins, 22, of Moredon Road, was in a Ford Fiesta in Purton Road on January 10 when he drove off after his car collided with another Swindon magistrates heard. He admitted careless driving and failing to stop.

When breathalysed he gave a reading of 89 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath when the limit is 35.

He was made the subject of a 12-month community order and told to pay £85 towards victim services.

COURT: Swindon magistrates ordered Adam Gardner to go on a thinking skills course as part of a six-month community order when he appeared before them charged with stealing headphones valued at £20 from HMV.

Gardner, 41, of Allington Road, Penhill, admitted carrying out the theft on November 30 and was told to pay £20 compensation.

COURT: A teen driver who collided with a garage and then did not report the accident was banned from the roads for six months and ordered to pay a total of £550.

Matthew Murphy, 19, of Norcliffe Road, pleaded guilty to failing to stop, failing to report and having no insurance when the accident happened in Dawlish Road on November 11.

He was fined £520 and told to pay a £30 victim surcharge.
