A HOST of animals is waiting to greet visitors when Lotmead Farm takes part in Open Farm Sunday this week.

Lambs, alpacas, calves and goats will all be on show and the dairy parlour will be open for talks and tours.

New play equipment, including a climbing trail, has been installed at the farm on Wanborough Road, plus more residents have been installed in the animal enclosures and along the nature trail.

The fruit fields are also open for visitors to pick their own strawberries, rhubarb and asparagus.

Manager John Meaden said: “During the winter and spring whilst we’ve been closed, we’ve spent a lot of time refreshing the play area and this year we have a new strawberry-themed wooden climbing frame.”

More crops will be ready for picking in the next few weeks, including gooseberries later this month next and raspberries in July. There will also be blackcurrants, potatoes, green beans, sweetcorn and more.

Admission to the play area costs £ 1.50 per person or £5 for a family of five. Talks and tours will start from the farm shop at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
