STAFF from the Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust are hosting a mini world-cup event at Marlborough College tomorrow.

Teams from across the country are preparing their squads for the upcoming tournament, which will celebrate the Every Player Counts initiative.

The EFL Trust, which runs the programme, aims to introduce thousands of people with disabilities into football.

Clive Maguire of the STFC trust, said: “We are sure it will be a great day of football for everyone involved.”

“We at Swindon Town are entering two teams for this 11-a-side tournament and our lead coach Steve Holmes BEM has worked the players hard in training in preparation for the tournament with their fitness levels improving all the time.

We are delighted that Steward Goshawk will be attending on the day from the Wembley National Stadium Trust to present the trophy and medals to the winning team.”

Swindon is one of 23 clubs that benefit from Wembley Stadium ticket sales, monies from which are earmarked for disability football.

As well as the mental health initiative the STFC community trust delivers weekly sessions for young adults with learning disabilities.
