The foreign secretary Boris Johnson has resigned over the government's plan for Brexit.
The resignation follows that of David Davis, the secretary for the Department for exciting the European Union, and is the third in 24 hours.
A Downing Street spokesman said: “This afternoon, the prime minister accepted the resignation of Boris Johnson as foreign secretary. His replacement will be announced shortly. The prime minister thanks Boris for his work.”
The cabinet met at Chequers last week to come to a compromise over Britain's future relationship with the EU. Ministers walked away disagreeing with many of the proposals, Boris Johnson referred to attempts to sell the plans as 'polishing a turd'.
