A STAR studded cast with David Suchet and Brendan Coyle takes to the stage in Arthur Miller’s riveting drama, The Price, this week.

Running at the Theatre Royal in Bath till August 25, Suchet (famous for his roles in Poirot, Great Expectations, Maxwell), Coyle (of Downton Abbey and Lark Rise to Candleford), star alongside Adrian Lukis (The Crown, Pride and Prejudice) and Sara Stewart (of Doctor Foster and Drop the Dead Donkey) in a new 50th anniversary production directed by Jonathan Church.

The play concerns Gregory Solomon, a silver-tongued used furniture dealer who arrives at a Manhattan brownstone, once the childhood home of brothers, Victor and Walter Franz.

Victor is now a New York cop, Walter is a successful surgeon. Expecting to close the deal on a straightforward financial transaction, Solomon hasn’t counted on the brothers being there to confront each other, sixteen years after their last meeting.

Jonathan Church’s inaugural 2017 Summer Season in Bath featured his own highly praised production of The Lady in the Van and Racing Demon.

First seen on Broadway in 1968, The Price was nominated for two Tony Awards including Best Play. It was most recently revived in New York in 2017 starring Mark Ruffalo and Danny DeVito.

Tickets are £22.50 to £38.50. To book, call 01225 448844 or visit theatreroyal.org.uk.
