CONSIDER yourself invited to a fabulous production of the classic musical Oliver! at the Wyvern Theatre.

The annual Summer Youth Project, giving a huge cast of talented young people a chance to work with theatre professionals in the setting of the Wyvern Theatre, reaches its climax with five performances, starting tonight at 7.30pm.

The team of around 150 youngsters has been hard at work rehearing the play over the last ten days, putting together a stunning production exactly 50 years since the release of the iconic film adaptation.

Oliver! is based on the Victorian novel by Charles Dickens, about the plight of an orphan boy who has the courage to ask for more food, and ends up sold to an undertaker, before running off to London and joining the Artful Dodger and a colourful gang of pickpockets, under the leadership of Fagin.

He is rescued from a life on the streets by the kindly Mr Brownlow - but brutal Bill Sykes wants to kidnap the boy to stop him from talking.

With music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, the production is packed full of famous songs such as Where is Love?, I'd Do Anything and You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two.

Performances are Thursday at 7.30pm, Friday at 4pm and 8pm, and Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £14-£15.50. To book, call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
