One of Britain's most celebrated actors, David Suchet is winning plaudits for his role as Gregory Solomon in Arthur Miller's play The Price, at the Theatre Royal, Bath, till Saturday.
Stage Review describes his 'enthralling performance' as 'a masterclass in character acting.' The Guardian praises his 'glowing performance... filled with memorable detail.'
This is the tale of a silver-tongued used furniture dealer, who arrives at a Manhattan home where brothers Victor and Walter Franz spent their childhood. Victor is now a New York cop and Walter is a successful surgeon. Expecting to close the deal on a straightforward financial transaction, Solomon hasn't counted on the brothers being there to confront each other, 16 years after their last meeting.
David Suchet's roles include Hercule Poirot and Robert Maxwell, Antonio Salieri and Lady Bracknell. Brendan Coyle, of Downton Abbey fame, plays the role of Victor, with Adrian Lukis, star of Pride and Prejudice and Peak Practice, as Walter Franz. Sara Stewart completes the cast appearing as Esther Franz, Victor’s wife. She played Susie in the BBC series Doctor Foster. Tickets are £22.50 - £38.50 with concessions available.
