Don Letts, videographer, musician and DJ, has always had a deep rooted love of reggae and Bob Marley.

This weekend the musician comes to Glastonbury for the One Love Reggae festival which is raising funds for Amnesty's Human Rights. Don joins a line-up that includes Mighty Diamonds, Mad Professor, Zion Train and Jerry Dammers.

Only Love runs from tomorrow till Sunday on Gilcombe Farm deep in the Somerset countryside at Bruton, near Glastonbury.

Kerry Moscogiuri, Amnesty International UK’s campaigns director, said: “We’re delighted that One Love is supporting Amnesty’s human rights work and we expect this to be a superb event from some of the world’s best reggae musicians. Reggae has a long history of supporting human rights issues, from the campaign to end Apartheid in South Africa to speaking out on police killings and institutionalised discrimination.''

In the 1970s Don saw Bob Marley perform live at the Hammersmith Odeon and after the gig he sneaked into the reggae legend's hotel and spent the night chatting to his hero.

He was running the Acme Attractions store in London and booming out of the doorway summer or winter was that reggae bat. His clientele included The Clash, Sex Pistols, Chrissie Hynde and of course Bob Marley.

Don went on to film music videos for bands such as Musical Youth, The Psychedelic Furs, The Pretenders and Elvis Costello along with documentaries such as The Punk Rock Movie in 1977 and The Clash: Westway To The World in 2000.

Don teamed up with Mick Jones after he left the Clash and they founded Big Audio Dynamite.

Don will be performing alongside other luminaries of the reggae and dub world such as Cutty Ranks, Johnny Clarke and Johnny Osbourne at One Love. For tickets and more details visit https://onelovefestival.co.uk/ - Flicky Harrison
