SWINDON-born celeb trainer Matt Fiddes has been asked to judge the Miss Great Britain competition this year.

The annual competition, the oldest pageant in the UK, has asked the trainer and owner of one of the world's largest martial arts schools to help crown a winner at the final in two weeks time.

“They just asked my management out of the blue, and I grabbed it. It’s a massive honour," said Matt.

“I never thought when I left St Joseph’s school that I would end up a body guard of Michael Jackson, being on TV, training all these people, and now being a judge for the biggest beauty competition in the England.

“I don’t have a GCSE to my name, it’s another twist and turn to my bizarre life.”

Matt has been coaching the 55 finalists to train them in self-defence and how to handle the pressure of being in the lime light.

“They took the initiative to hit it head on before the final,” said Matt.

“It was a bit daunting, with 55 prettiest women in England in one room.

"I got my agent to tell my wife because that would have been a bit of an awkward conversation," he joked. "She's used to me training, I don't get call from the guys, just the models. But to me it's just work."

The final will be held in Leicester on September 14.

Matt will judge alongside the current Miss Great Britain, Saffron Rose Heart, who will be coming to Swindon in September to run a free self-defence class.
