A RACE to remember a young boy knocked off his push bike and killed is returning for its third year.

Daniel Climance was tragically killed in 2015 when he collided with a road sweeper whilst out riding his Bike with his dad in Purton.

Children from Bridelwood Primary, some of whom will have known Daniel who was in year six at the time, will get together to run the race around the school to raise money for a charity set up by Daniel's memory.

Jenny Hulse, organiser and PE co-ordinator at Bridlewood Primary in Purton, told the Adver: “This time will be the third time we’re holding the race. It’s something that we set up for the children to remember Daniel.

“He was a very active and sporty and loved playing football.

“It’s helping to keep his memory alive and raise some money for other children in Wiltshire."

Doing it For Dan was set up a year after the accident to encourage children and young adults to participate in sports and leisure activities through fundraising for organisations in Wiltshire and Swindon.

It was set up as charity after the Doing It For Dan virtual race which proved so successful that throughout 2015, 1,000 people managed to raise over £20,000 for road safety charity Brake.

The race will be taking place on Thursday September 27 at 1:30pm.
