COURT: A landscape gardener accused of stealing thousands will stand trial.
Benjamin Stevens, 30, of Whitworth Road, faces four counts of breaching unfair trading rules for failing to provide the proper business documents to his clients between April and October last year.
Swindon Borough Council’s trading standards team, which has brought the prosecution, also claims he stole £2,800 from customer Sally Tang.
Stevens was operating as Swindon Garden Services at the time of the alleged charges, advertising his services on the internet.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon, Stevens entered no plea to the charges.
He was told the charges against him were serious and could potentially result in a 12 month jail term.
Magistrates remanded him on unconditional bail for a pre-trial hearing at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, October 19.
