HELEN Browning's first book will be published tomorrow.

Pig: Tales from an Organic Farm is a diary covering the lives of her pigs, farm staff and community from December 2017 and June 2018, based on notes by Tim Finney.

To celebrate the release, a mini literature festival and end-of-summer party called Pigtails is being held at Helen Browning's Royal Oak in Bishopstone on Saturday from 11am to 11pm.

The book will be launched during the event and there will be talks from Rosamund Young, Issy Tree, Kate Rawles, Ben Raskin and Helen Browning herself.

Rosamund Young will chat about her Sunday Times bestseller The Secret Life of Cows, Issy Young will reveal all about the experimental project behind her non-fiction book Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British Farm, Ben Raskin will discuss Bees, Bugs and Butterflies, and Kate Rawles will talk about The Carbon Cycle: Crossing the Great Divide.

Entry is free and visitors can go on tours of the farm, listen to live music from Hooch, Utrillo, Lisa Doscher and The Crimps, and enjoy plenty of food and drink.

The day will be hosted by David Shukman, BBC News' Science editor and former Environment editor.

Helen's book has already received praise from Monty Don, Jonathan Dimbleby and Pru Leith.
