A BURGLAR stole £500 of tobacco pouches after breaking into the Co-op on Cricklade Road on Wednesday morning.

Just before 2am, the suspect cycled up to the supermarket and smashed a window.

Once inside, he forced open the cigarette display case and filled a blue bag with tobacco pouches, then cycled off towards Great Western Way.

Police are appealing for information and released an image of someone they'd like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The suspect is described as male, of heavy build wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, grey top and black trainers, and had a scarf wrapped around his face.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Although the quality of the image is poor and the man's face is covered by a scarf, combined with the description it may be that someone can help identify him."

Anyone who saw a person matching this description cycling in the area around the time of the incident, or who has any information which could help the investigation should contact PC Julieann Brown on 101 quoting reference number 88434.
