RITCHIE Plumb volunteered at a primary school for two years before he was brought to justice.

The paedophile helped out with the reception class at Minety CE Primary School.

Headteacher Sally Greaves wrote to parents last week, reassuring them the offences for which he was convicted were in no way connected to his role at the school.

She said: “We worked closely with our partner agencies following Plumb’s arrest.

“We’re shocked and saddened by the arrest and sentencing, but we would like to emphasise these offences were not connected to his role in school and we follow all safeguarding procedures. We ensure all staff, governors and volunteers have DBS certificates.

“DBS certificates have always been checked. No volunteer coming into the school will ever be allowed with the children without a certificate.”

Mum-of-four Sarah Crompton, whose five-year-old daughter attended the reception class in which Plumb volunteered, said her blood had run cold when she heard the 37-year-old had a sexual interest in young girls.
