MORE than half-a-dozen seats on Great Western Hospital's council of governors are vacant.

The hospital trust is running elections to fill the seven vacant seats.

They include two empty spots reserved for people living in north Wiltshire and a single vacancy for a governor from west Berkshire or Oxfordshire.

Nominations close on Tuesday, September 25, and elections to the seven seats will run from October 15 to November 2.

The council of governors meets every other month and hears from hospital executives about GWH's performance. Their role is to scrutinise the work of the hospital trust and represent the views of patients and the community.
