THE latest Communi-tea event at Savernake Street Social Hall will include the venue's first Fun Palace.

There will be several fun activities to enjoy at the Old Town community centre on Sunday October 7 from 2pm to 4pm.

The family-friendly event will include collages, historical martial arts, family dance, gelatin printing, 'zentangles', 3D printing and much more.

The Communi-tea event is a regular fun day held at the social hall, each one different from the last.

The hall is maintained by the Eastcott Community Organisation, with funding from Arts Council England and other supporters.

Caroline Davies-Khan, chair of the organisation, said: "There will be something for everyone at our Fun Palace event.

"It fits beautifully with our remit to reach out to our community and it really taps in to the talent of our local residents”.

"The Fun Palace concept started many years ago, but was realised in 2014 by writer Stella Duffy.

"In the first year that the creative initiative started, there were just over 100 Fun Palaces.

"By 2017, that had grown to over 300 and this year is shaping up to be even bigger."

Stella said: “What the Fun Palaces campaign is doing is simply providing a channel for people to come together, to make together.

"We say that creativity belongs to all of us, in our public parks and school playgrounds and estate car parks, as much as in our grand institutions and buildings.

"It is a way to be a community, simultaneously, locally and nationwide and internationally.”

The Fun Palace is free to attend, with drinks and cakes available to purchase.
