YEAR 4 pupils at Meadowpark School in Cricklade have been given a lesson in taking responsibility for their personal safety
The trip to SkillZONE in Gloucester aimed to teach them new safety skills, both in and out of the home, to keep them from harm.
The facility is an interactive village that allows children to experience potentially dangerous situations and work out their responses in a safe and controlled environment.
Scenarios included how to escape from a house fire, why building sites should never be used as playgrounds, and why children should always stay vigilant when crossing a road.
Teacher Adam Rush said: “The children even had the opportunity to spend time in a mock prison and court, which was quite a reality check.”
when they got back to their classroom, the children produced safety posters to show all that they had learnt.
The posters will be displayed around the school so that every student can see the safety tips and advice.
Open days are being held at the school on Friday October 12 from 9am to 3pm and Saturday October 13 from 9:30am to 1pm.
