THE centenary of the RAF and 100 years of psychiatry will provide the backdrop to Swindon Trauma Group’s ninth annual conference next month.

Experts will be on hand to talk about the effects of trauma and discuss ways of dealing with it.

There will also be a segment on how music can help people cope with their experiences.

Organised by founder Dick Hilling, the event is billed as an opportunity to break taboos and correct the many misconceptions still rife in society, even among the medical profession.

There will also be a segment on how music can help people cope with their experiences.

Rob Fenton, who has discussed the issues he has suffered with his own mental health and traumas from his past life, said the conference was of huge importance for many people.

He said: “It has well and truly established itself as a calendar event.

“I have been lucky enough to experience first-hand the work that guest speaker Professor Gordon Turnbull does, he has helped me progress forward with my life.

“This event could help you change your life.”

One of the aims of the conference is also to promote education and ensure health professionals have the tools to support sufferers.

Rob added: “The price of the tickets could easily be a lot more if they were at a venue in London because the experts speaking at this conference are of the best in the world.”

The conference is on October 5 at the Marriott Hotel on Pipers Way.

Tickets cost between £20 and £35. Visit swindontraumagroup.org.uk for more information.
