COURT: A thief who stole £180 of perfume from House of Fraser must pay back the value of the goods as punishment.

Daniel Ebanks, 40, of Cherhill Court in Swindon took the perfume on March 21 and pleaded guilty to the offence at Swindon Magistrates Court.

He must carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £85 plus £85 to victim services.

COURT: Another thief must pay compensation after pleading guilty to theft.

Lee Sparks, 37, of Redcliffe Street in Swindon, stole laundry products and a dinner set worth £65 from Wilko in the Parade on June 23, then stole more laundry products and a slow cooker worth £145 from the shop a day later.

He must pay £65 in compensation for the first offence and £48 for the second, which is believed to have been carried out with the help of two other people.

Magistrates decided not to order Sparks to pay court costs due to his lack of means.

COURT: A car thief has been fined £207 and given six penalty points on his driving licence.

Brett Fairclough, 25, of Masefield in Royal Wootton Bassett, took a Ford Focus on June 29 and drove the car without insurance or a valid licenceon the same day.

In addition to the fine, he must pay £85 in costs plus £30 to victim services.

COURT: A fraudster who went on a supermarket shopping spree using someone else's credit card must pay £97.90 in compensation.

Michael James, 37, of Netherton Close, attempted to use the card to withdraw £50 twice on May 11, and used it to pay for goods worth £1.60, £8.75, £6.20 and £61.40, all on the same day.

He pleaded guilty to all charges at Swindon Magistrates Court.

James must also pay £85 in costs.
