Plans to set up hygiene inspections of Swindon’s tattoo parlours, similar to inspections of cafes, bars and restaurants, have been delayed.
Councillors on Swindon Borough Council’s licensing committee were due to hear at their meeting on Thursday about a planned consultations on a scheme to make inspections of tattooists and to publish the ratings, in order to inform customers about which parlours were best abiding by the industry’s hygeleiune standards, and which were failing.
But while the Adver understands the proposal has widespread support among Swindon’s tattoo artists, some outstanding legal questions meant the report to the committee has been delayed and will now be discussed on November 22.
Thursday’s meeting, which starts at 5.30pm in the Civic Offices, will now discuss licensing trading activities involving animals.
