POLICE have arrested two men and seized a machete and a large amount of cash, drugs, and stolen bicycles and mopeds after carrying out a raid at two houses in Gorse Hill this morning.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying  class A drugs.   Both are currently in custody.

At one address in Wilcox Close, a number of stolen bicycles and mopeds were found along with some cannabis and a knife.

Police have already identified the legal owner of one of the bicycles seized.

At the other address on the same street,  a 15 inch machete-style knife, approximately £8,000 in cash and some class A drugs were discovered.

Two police vans, a police dog unit, and several police cars arrived at the scene around 8,30am.

Officers carrying battering rams got into position at the front doors of both properties.

One door quickly gave way to the ram, while another took several hits without budging before a resident unlocked and opened it.

One suspect from the first house was handcuffed and taken away just before 9.30am and a large knife was found in the same property.

Police Crime Commissioner Angus Macpherson looked on as Sgt David Tippetts' team got to work gathering evidence and talked to the houses' residents.

Curious neighbours who spotted the cameras and police vehicles came out of their homes to see what all the fuss was about.
