THIEVES have stolen thousands of pounds of jewellery in a string of burglaries in Royal Wootton Bassett.

An unknown number of thieves have targeted three homes in the town in the past three months.

The first reported break-in was during 24 July 2018 at a house on the High Street, followed by another on the High Street between 9pm on Sunday 16 September and 3pm on Monday 17 September.

The most recent one took place on Saffron Close between 5.30pm on Friday 21 September and 1.30pm on Sunday 22 September.

Police have said it is not clear if the three are linked.

PC Jordan Gratton said: "We'd like to appeal to those in the local community who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in these areas to come forward.

"Also, if you are offered cheap gold and antique jewellery - perhaps the price is too good to be true - to be careful as it may be stolen.

"If you see jewellery that you believe to be stolen, please report it to us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact PC Jordan Gratton on 101. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
