CHILDREN at Eldene Pre-School are enjoying a new play area after a local packaging firm donated more than £4,500 to replace it following a vandal attack two years ago.

Parents and staff rallied round after the pre-school was targeted by vandals over the Christmas holidays in 2016, trashing the sensory garden and destroying cemented hand prints done by the children.

But it was still in need of lots of refurbishment so Tina Azzopardi, manager of Eldene Pre-School Parent’s Committee, approached Wasdell Packaging to see about replacing the safety floor and refurbishing the climbing equipment.

Tina said: “We are so grateful for the large donation it was so unexpected, the children benefit from using the outside area every day and they certainly love their new Dino Mound! So I would like to say a big thank you to Wasdell Packaging, you have made so many children happy.”

Martin Tedham, managing director of Wasdell, said: “It’s great to see the new play equipment in place and it is certainly being well-used by the children.

“Eldene Pre-School is a busy and happy place and the children are given lots of different activities and ways of learning through play. We’re pleased to be able to support the local community and help to provide the children with the best start.”

Eldene Pre-school for Toddlers is a registered charity and the garden had been originally build by volunteers.
