STUDENTS will be reunited after more than 50 years this Friday.

Three friends who went to St Joseph's Roman Catholic School in Swindon have organised a big reunion this Saturday.

Anyone who attended or taught at the school between 1969 and 1974 is welcome to come along to the Moose Hall on Eastcott Hill from 7pm to 11pm.

Guests can bring old photos and memorabilia with them for an extra nostalgia factor.

Ida Walker, Krystyna Bartoszewska, and Maryrose Higgins have just ordered in a feast of food ready for the event.

Krystyna said: "We've organised similar reunions in the past when we reach big milestones in our lives.

"This year, we all turn 60, which is another big moment.

"We all started at St Joe's in 1969, then most of my friends left in 1974 but I stayed on an extra year to do my subjects as a GCSE, which was just being introduced.

"Everyone is very excited about the reunion, we're really looking forward to it.

"We'll be dancing along to music from our schooldays.

"Maryrose and I used to do a jive to Crocodile Rock, so I'm sure we'll be bringing that back.

"We're expecting around 50 people and they're coming from all over the place, even America.

"Gilbert O'Sullivan's brother was in our school year, but sadly he couldn't make it.

"School photos and pictures from previous reunions will be shown so people can see themselves and we can put names to faces.

"Some of us might be in fancy dress from the late '60s, too."

Ida (nee Conway) and Krystyna (nee Bujas) have known each since they were five years and old and went to Holyrood Infant and Junior Schools before meeting Maryrose in St Joseph's.

Krystyna added: "As with most schoolchildren, a lot of our classmates have left town or moved abroad or lost contact with each other.

"With things like Facebook, it's easier to stay in touch now and I have a group of schoolfriends I still meet with every month or so.

"There are still lots of people we haven't seen for many years and it would be great to catch up with them.

"It will be lovely to reminisce and talk about the old days - all the pranks we used to get up to, all the secrets that are only being revealed now.
