A SPORTS centre is seeking to change its status.
The Trustees of the Highworth Recreation Centre Charitable Trust are proposing to change from being a charitable trust to a private company with limited liability and charitable status subject to the approval of the Charity Commission.
It is just one of a number of issues due to be discussed at Wednesday's annual meeting.
The trustees will also be unveiling new plans for phase two of the redevelopment of the centre, which includes new changing rooms and reception areas.
With the proposed opening of the new pool in April 2008, the trustees felt it is the right time to make the change of status.
Phil Baker, chairman of the executive committee, said: "The existing trust has served the community of Highworth well since 1964. However we are finding it increasingly difficult, along with many other charities, to recruit trustees under the current terms and conditions. The new company will be looking to recruit directors who can contribute to the future development of the centre including those with business and marketing skills."
The annual meeting will be held at 7.15pm in the town council offices.
