The boy’s mother, who pleaded guilty to failing to ensure her son was regularly attending school, was dined £115. She must also pay £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Ashley Davies, 25, of Maunsell Way, was due before Swindon Magistrates’ Court over non-payment of fines. The case was adjourned to October 12 to give Davies time to respond to the allegations.

Davies was jailed for two years in August for burglary.

Magistrates remanded Gillespie in custody to appear before the Swindon Crown Court on a date yet to be set.

COURT: A Gorse Hill man admitted attacking another, damaging his van and entering a newsagents armed with a hammer and wooden bat.

Yassim Noor Jama, 39, of Edinburgh Street, is accused of beating Saravanbavananthan Thasarathakumaran, damaging his Renault Master Van and entering the Premier store on Cricklade Road with the weapons.

He was bailed for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and will next appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on October 17.

COURT: A Toothill film thief has been jailed for a week. Liam Thomas, 28, of Colchester Close, pleaded guilty to stealing the six Blu-Ray DVDs worth £90 from a Chippenham branch of Morrison’s supermarket.

Magistrates ordered he pay compensation, a £115 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. Another charge that Thomas stole two bottles of brandy from the store was dropped.

COURT: Police were given extra time to keep £5,000 cash seized during a raid on a Wiltshire massage parlour.

Swindon magistrates granted an application to hold the cash, found when officers raided a branch of Oriental Massage in Salisbury belonging to Yaqin Wang.
