DRUG detectives raided a Walcot flat, seizing cash, drugs and a 16-inch machete.

The drugs warrant was one of three carried out on a single day last week, with homes on Queens Drive and Norwood Close, Liden, also raided.

Wiltshire Police said three people had been arrested after officers visited the flat in Milverton Court, Walcot, on Wednesday.

A large amount of cash, class A and B drugs, knives and an axe were found. Two Swindon men, aged 17 and 20, together with a 15-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. They have been released under investigation.

Later in the day, officers arrested a woman, 28, wanted on recall to prison, when they raided a house on Queens Drive. In Liden, small amounts of cannabis and crack cocaine were taken from a house on Norwood Close along with baseball bats stashed behind the front door. A woman, 49, was cautioned, and a 21-year-old man will be invited to Gablecross Police Station for interview.

The raids came in the second week of Op Sceptre, a national campaign aimed at tackling knife crime.

Sgt David Tippetts said: "Yet again these warrants prove that the link between violent crime, the use of weapons and illegal drugs supply are very much linked.

"By getting knives and other weapons off our streets under such campaigns like Op Sceptre then that's one part of the criminal cycle broken.

"It's also the same when we seize drugs and drug paraphernalia - it disrupts criminals and their crimes.

"An operation like this also sends the message that we are listening to local people and we will act on any information you give us. Please contact us if you suspect anyone dealing in drugs or carrying out any sort of criminality in your area."
