COURT: A thief who stole groceries valued at £28 from Tesco found him self with a £105 bill to pay after he appeared in the dock at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

Royston Morris, 48, of Crawford Close, Freshbrook, pleaded guilty to stealing the goods on August 24.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £20 towards victim services with £85 prosecution costs.

COURT: Swindon magistrates banned Zlatko Stojkov from driving for a year after he admitted driving while he was over the legal alcohol limit.

The 29-year-old of Bilborough Drive, was caught at the wheel of a Peugeot 206 in Marlborough Road on August 25 and gave a breath test reading of 48mg. The limit is 35mg. He was fined £350 with another £120 in costs.

COURT: Luke Metcalf was handed a 12-month conditional discharge by magistrates after he pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis.

The defendant, 23, of Hornbeam Court, Pinehurst, was also told to pay £105 towards victim services and court costs.

COURT: A woman accused of assaulting a police officer is due to appear before Swindon magistrates on October 24. Katrzyna Lyczak, 29, of Albion Street, has been bailed until the hearing.
