Strictly stars are set to Rip It Up in 1960s style in their new theatre show.

Harry Judd, drummer with rock bands McFly and McBusted, Strictly Come Dancing champion in 2011, Louis Smith Olympic medalist and Strictly champion in 2012 and Aston Merrygold from Britt award winning pop band JLS and Strictly favourite, are heading out on tour with what they call their jukebox theatre show.

The live band will back the dancers who will be kicking and flicking their way through hits from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kings, Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Doors Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin and many more. They will be heading for Swindon as part of the UK tour in Swindon on Sunday, October 7.

Harry lifted the glitter ball with his pro dance partner Aliona Vilani and went on to win the Christmas Special in 2015 with Joanne Clifton and found himself beaten by fellow Strictly star Chelsee Healey when he competed in Strictly Come Dancing Underwater for Sports Relief. In his day job with McFly, Harry is no stranger to television as the band guest starred in an episode of Casualty, Doctor Who and Hollyoaks.

Harry said: “ I love to dance along with playing in a band there is no better feeling than to be on stage dancing. I was brought up listening to 1960s music by my parents which makes this who show even more exciting for me.’’

Louis won a bronze medal in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, he won silver at the 2012 in London and Rio De Janeiro in 2016.

Louis was partnered by pro dancer Flavia Cacace when he won the championship and he also danced with Aliona, but only for the Christmas Special which he won in 2014.

Aston Merrygold sings with JLS who notched up five UK number one singles, sold 10 million records worldwide and won two Brit awards and five Mobo awards. He appeared on Strictly Come Dancing with pro dancer Janette Manrara and his exit in week six was considered the biggest shock in the show’s history. Aston said: “I feel I’ve got some unfinished business when it comes to dance so I’m so excited to be in Rip It Up.’’

The three Strictly stars will waltz into the Wyvern Theatre on Sunday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £24.50 - £39.50 from 01793 524481 or www.swindontheatres.co.uk - Flicky Harrison
