SINGING duo Total Eclipse will perform a string of classic songs at Swindon's Great Western Hotel tonight.

While this is the first gig for Total Eclipse, neither Nathanael Parker nor Jeanette Etherington, both from Swindon, are newcomers to the spotlight: Nathanael won the Swindon's Got Talent contest in April with his rendition of Rise Like A Phoenix, the Eurovision-winning song originally performed by Conchita Wurst. The 25-year-old from Cheney Manor performed the song live on the Wharf Green stage front of a large crowd and a panel of judges in the show's final in the town centre.

He will be back on-stage for the Christmas lights switch-on later this year, as part of his prize for winning the contest.

Jeanette, a PA at Aldi, has also enjoyed a moment in the limelight, when she won an episode of Come Dine With Me.

Nathanael, who works in telesales performance, said the duo had been singing together for about a year and a half.

"The first song we did was Total Eclipse of the Heart, the Bonnie Tyler song. We struggled for ages trying to come up with a name, when Jeanette's ten-year-old daughter suggested Total Eclipse," he said.

"We've both done some singing before, and then we became friends, and we decided we'd like to work on some singing together."

The duo sing a wide range of covers to a backing track, including songs from the 1960s, R&B classics, blues songs and more contemporary numbers.

"There are no tickets, people can just turn up. There are quite a lot of people coming, and we're really looking forward to it."

Their performance begins at 8.30pn at the hotel in Station Road.
