IT'S a new show, a new decade and a whole new cast for Rip It Up at the Wyvern Theatre on Sunday.

Following the smash hit success of Rip It Up Dancing Through The 50s last year – which sold over 50,000 tickets and was acclaimed as the most exciting Strictly Come Dancing spin-off tour ever – Rip It Up brings the fabulous soundtrack of the 1960s to life in an explosion of song and dance.

Strictly Come Dancing champions Harry Judd and Louis Smith MBE, and people’s champion Aston Merrygold, are touring together as the ultimate boy band of dance.

They will present timeless hits from the decade that changed not just a generation and the world, from Mersey Beat, Motown and Mod to West Coast and Woodstock.

Backed by the Rip It Up live band and a talented supporting cast of singers and dancers, the Strictly champions will dance to songs from British rock legends such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, the Bee Gees, Small Faces and The Kinks, as well as American superstars such as The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, The Byrds, The Doors, and The Mamas & The Papas.

Add some Dusty Springfield to the mix, along with Burt Bacharach, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and Phil Spector, as well as soul classics from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, and Motown legends Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Supremes, and Rip It Up celebrates some of the most iconic sounds, sights and events from that tumultuous period which transformed the 20th Century.

It was the decade of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, the deaths of JFK, Marilyn Monroe and Martin Luther King, the building of the Berlin Wall and the rise of fictional icons like James Bond and Doctor Who, the invention of the pill, and fashion game-changers like the mini skirt, bell-bottoms, the emergence of Mary Poppins, the rise of Beatlemania and England winning the World Cup.

Relive the soundtrack of those heady times, and the spectacle of talented dancers, in shows at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are £24.50-£39.50. VIP tickets are available at £100, including central seats, VIP laminate programme and a meet and greet with Harry, Aston and Louis. The matinee has sold out so book soon for the evening. Call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
