YOUNG ONES stars Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer reunite on stage in a brand new comedy drama – which they have also written – called Vulcan 7, at the Theatre Royal Bath from October 15 to 20.

Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer first shot to fame in the 1980s in The Comic Strip Presents… and as Vyvyan and Neil in the legendary Brit Award-winning TV cult classic The Young Ones – which appeared live on stage at the Theatre Royal Bath in 1983 under the guise of Kevin Turvey and The Young Ones.

They went on to have successful careers across stage and screen, and have also starred together in Filthy, Rich and Catflap on television and played in the spoof band Bad News.

In their new stage comedy, Vulcan 7, Adrian Edmondson (Gary Savage) and Nigel Planer (Hugh Delavois) co-star as two former drama students reunited 40 years down the line when they find themselves sharing a trailer on the set of a fantasy movie in an Icelandic wasteland. Now in their 60s, Hugh is a jobbing actor and Gary a struggling Hollywood star.

One has landed the role of Vulcan’s butler and is making his seventh film for the franchise. The other is a one-time Hollywood A-lister playing a guest monster with four hours in make-up and one word in the script. Sparks fly inside the trailer as old wounds are opened.

Meanwhile a runner attempts to keep the peace, but outside the trailer things are not going to plan either: the director’s gone AWOL, the catering truck’s on the wrong side of a ravine, and the volcanic activity is growing livelier by the minute.

The cast is completed by Lois Chimimba, who plays the role of Leela, the film’s runner, and the play is directed by Steven Marmion of Soho Theatre.

Tickets are £20.50 - £36.50 with concessions available. To book, contact the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 or visit theatreroyal.org.uk
