A TEENAGER from Swindon who wowed judges on The Voice Kids will be performing in the town centre today.

Phoebe Maddison got through to the battle rounds in this year's singing competition.

The 14-year-old will be busking by the water fountain on Regent Street from 11am to 2pm to raise money for Swindon 105.5 and Diabetes UK.

She said: "I am so looking forward to sing and entertain the people of Swindon and, importantly, raising funds for two excellent causes.

"Diabetes UK is something close to my own heart, being a type 1 sufferer myself.

"I love Swindon 105.5's community spirit of bringing enjoyment to its listeners.

"I'm happy to help them in continuing their community broadcasts and reaching and supporting young people."

Her dad Antony said: “I am immensely proud of Phoebe and her achievements to date.

"She loves to sing and support worthy causes.

"She is a very dedicated and inspiring young lady."

Shirley Ludford, station manager of Swindon 105.5, will be broadcasting live with the youngster between 11am and noon.

Shirley said: "Her enthusiasm for using her voice to help others is an inspiration to young people.

"She received a Pride of Swindon Award last year for her work supporting young diabetics.

"She has sung a few times on Swindon 105.5 and came in als in to tell the story of her own journey."

Phoebe will be one of the acts performing at this year's Christmas Lights switch-on at Wharf Green in November.

Diabetes UK helps fund research and provide information for people with diabetes.
