PUPILS from a Swindon primary school were visited by an adorable rescue puppy for a talk on dog safety.

Kimberley Monaghan brought 13-week-old mixed-breed terrier Daisy to Bridlewood Primary School

Daisy is the newest member of Cirencester Sixth Form College's animal centre and quickly won the hearts of staff and students from reception to year 6 during the talk.

Kimberley is the college's course leader for Animal Management.

She devised an interactive and informative talk with help from her department's colleagues which would ensure that youngsters knew how to interact safely with dogs.

She said: “The children were really excited about the talk and were superbly knowledgeable about how to remain safe and look after dogs.

"I was really impressed by the children at the school and I hope that from now on they follow the rules of ask first and always refer to a dogs behaviour before approaching”.

The talk was a big hit with all the pupils and staff - some of the more nervous students even plucked up the courage to stroke Daisy before the session was over.

"We really enjoyed meeting Daisy and were very impressed that she could already sit when asked.

"Afterwards, the children could talk confidently about how to approach a dog safely and the importance of asking the owner before going up to stroke a dog."
