A MUM of three said she felt on top of the world after shedding 11 stone in just two years.

And Lorna Terry is celebrating after being appointed a new Weight Watchers coach.

Taw Hill mum Lorna said had struggled with her weight since she was 17-years-old, taking up and then discarding different weight loss plans.

By 2016 and having just given birth to her third child, she hit 28st.

Lorna, 38, said: “I had resigned myself to the fact that I ws never going to lsoe weight and decided that I would rather die trying than die having done nothing about it.”

She had had a gastric band fitted in 2010, but it proved to be useless: “It was the hardest thing I had ever done, because it is not a quick fix. I lost approximately four stone in just over a year. But I was in and out of hospital during that year because of complications.

“My stomach may have changed shape but my mindset was the same and although I had been told I couldn’t eat big portions I did - with shocking results.

“The gastric band failed and I begged the NHS to remove it, which they did.”

Rather than revert to her old ways, she joined her local Weight Watchers group: “By shifting my mindset I ate healthy foods and learned to face my demons head on rather than carry on eating emotionally. I lost 11st by sticking with the plan.

“I no longer need a seat belt extender, I can fit in a chair with sides and not be crippled with pain and I wear a size 14 as opposed to size 32.”

She now weighs 16st. Lorna, a childminder whose own children are aged 20, 17 and two, added: “I’m feeling on top of the world. Even though I have got a way to go, I’m really happy with where I’m at.

“Before, I couldn’t move very far. I felt sluggish and very tired.

“Now, I feel like a completely different person. I don’t recognise myself. I’m trying to learn about the new Lorna.”

Rather than just following the Weight Watchers programme, Lorna is now also teaching it. She has been appointed as a coach by the organisation: “Becoming a coach was something I have wanted to do for a while as I want to support and offer my experience with others to inspire them on their journey. It is a journey that I am still on and looking forward to reaching goal with my members.”
