There are 24 hours left to write a short story about the welcome Swindon has offered to refugees and asylum seekers and possibly to have it read aloud at the Houses of Parliament.
Swindon, City of Sanctuary, part of a national campaign set up to help asylum seekers, is urging its supporters and those who have helped those in need to enter the national group's Stories of Welcome competition.
Entries, which should only be 750 words long, although photographs and video are also welcome, need to be submitted by the end of October 10.
Winning entries will be heard at Sanctuary in Parliament on 12th November, and form part of a book, to be published later this year. The competition is being run by the national City of Sanctuary movement, which is keen to encourage maximum refugee participation – including entries written by refugees or including refugee testimonies in stories.
Details on how to enter are available cityofsanctuary.org
